Although the internet offers so much, there are risks associated with being online. CA Internet Security Suite 2007 from Computer Associates offers complete protection in one box rather than using several different programs. Computeractive has teamed up with CA to offer 50 lucky readers a copy of this security software to keep their computers and personal information safe. One of the key benefits of Internet Security Suite is that there is one interface for checking that the computer is secure. There is no chance of missing an error or update that leaves the computer vulnerable online. The anti-virus protection prevents malicious software from damaging Windows. The firewall checks communication between the computer and the internet, blocking hackers....

Posted Sunday, October 29, 2006 11:11:56 PM by Blog57 Team
PC-Cillin Internet Security 2007 from Trend Micro is a home PC and network security package offering a number of levels of security and some interesting features over rival packages. Upon installation you’re asked whether you want to use Trend Micro’s Software Rating Database Service, a regularly maintained database that helps identify potentially dangerous or harmful software before it affects your system. This also includes a Web Site Filtering Service to automatically accept content and information transfer between sites that are deemed safe. The antivirus tools are comprehensive enough. When the software scans your PC it splits results into virus, spyware and, interestingly, a Microsoft System Vulnerabilities category, so you can work out exactly how safe your version of Windows is rather than just downloading every Microsoft update....

Internet Security Systems will expand its 30-strong Australian workforce this year as the cyber security vendor grows to cope with global demand, chief executive Tom Noonan said at the launch of its operations centre in Brisbane last week. Although he says the centre is part of a $120 million global chain of monitoring stations, Mr Noonan declined to say what it cost to establish the local operation or whether it would be staffed around the clock. ISS, which employs 1300 worldwide and is being bought by IBM for $US1.3 billion ($1.7 billion) expects to nearly double its workforce next year. It started its Australian operations in Brisbane six years ago. Mr Noonan says Australia's 30 per cent annualised growth and customers' reluctance to use managed services overseas prompted the building of the local centre....

My father owned horses throughout my early childhood. Almost every time I was around the animals, he would tell me: "Son, don't walk behind those horses." So I grew up with the firmly implanted knowledge that walking behind horses was a really dangerous act -- so much so, that now that my family owns horses I constantly tell my wife: "Sweetheart, don't walk behind those horses." It's a caution she only half-accepts and one that I was beginning to doubt, considering that in 15 years of owning horses not one has ever kicked out in an attempt to do either of us harm. ....
